Chinese senior sculpture artist Liao Wenjing(1925 - 1999)

In 1946, Wenjing was admitted to the Chinese Painting Department of Hangzhou National Academy of Arts, and then transferred to the Sculpture Department. He became one of the few top students in the sculpture department of the school. The French sculptor Xiong Bingming was a close friend of his class. After the Korean War, he was deployed to settle in Dingshu Town, Yixing, Jiangsu. In 1955, he entered the Zisha Craft Factory to engage in sculpture creation and Zisha pottery carving, and trained Zisha sculpture talents with Xu Xiutang. Wenjing was formally educated by a higher education institution in Yixing in his early years. He has high moral character and successful creation. He is a good friend of Gu Jingzhou, and he has carved many seals for Mr. Gu. In 1971, Gu Jingzhou once exchanged a pottery made by himself for a statue of a longevity man made by Wenjing, which shows that his sculptures are extremely valuable. Wenjing has been engaged in purple sand sculpture for decades, and there are not many surviving works. Representative works include "Deity with omniscient sight‭ &  hearing", "Guanyin with ruyi scepter", "Jiangtaigong" and so on.

According to legend, clairvoyance and wind ear are the two gods in front of Emperor Xuanyuan, named Gaoming and Gaolan. Shunfeng ear can hear people's words from thousands of miles away, and clairvoyant can see sights from thousands of miles away. Liao Wenjing takes its implied meaning and expresses the extraordinary ability of the two gods and the vivid and interesting image. The two gods travel freely across the sea, see the world, listen to all directions, and have a focused look that is vivid and vivid. This work is one of the few masterpieces of modern Zisha sculptures.
